Why we need you

Arklight is a project coordinated by Wirral Ark which brings together the resources of the community to take collective action against homelessness. We will be hosting a winter night shelter starting from 4 November 2019 to February 2020. The night shelter will operate on a rolling basis from several church and community venues and will be staffed by volunteers. We are looking for volunteers to help provide a safe, warm and welcoming environment for rough sleepers.

Who will I report to?

The Venue Coordinator. Each participating venue will have its own dedicated Venue Coordinator who will support you.

Where will I be based?

At a church/venue of your choice. Volunteers can work across different venues or at a specific venue.

How can I help?

We are looking for volunteers who can help prepare food, set-up the venue, assist on the door to welcome guests, serve food, chat with guests, wash dishes and tidy up the venue. There are three shift patterns we are seeking to fill:

Evening Shift – 5:30pm- 10pm

Night Shift – 9:30pm – 6:30am

Morning Shift – 6am – 9am

What type of person are we looking for?

To carry out this role you will need:

  • A kind, compassionate and caring approach with our guests
  • An interest in and enthusiasm for the work of Wirral Ark and the Arklight project
