Wirral Ark is a homeless charity based in Birkenhead. We work from a number of sites, principally Mary Cole House, close to Hamilton Square. We offer a range of short- to mid-term accommodation options for homeless people, and offer intensive support services to maximise the opportunities open to the people that stay with us.
Primarily the role of will be based within the Irene Kennedy Centre (IKC), which is part of Mary Cole House, devising and coordinating activities for our clients while they stay with us. However the role includes work on a range of other activities throughout the charity, meeting the needs of our various funders.
Around 30 hours of the role will be based in the IKC delivering sessions around physical and mental wellbeing, social development skills and creative sessions. However these will be adapted to the needs of the clients via feedback and evaluation.
For the first 12 months the role will also cover:
* An additional 2.6 hours at the Irene Kennedy Centre to over a specific piece of work monitoring and evaluating these projects. As part of this you will be asked to undertake a City & Guilds Education and Training Course (Level 3 or Equivalent). This course is fully funded.
* You will also support the delivery of the Wirral Ark Dinghies project which will include promotion the service to clients and customers, and support the WAD staff member with the back office needs of the project.
* The Great Escape, a brand new Big Lottery funded project working with clients to deliver 4 residential projects over the next 12 months.
Working in our newly refurbished 27 bed accommodation service you will be required to plan and deliver sessions, work with our existing partners and be creative in you approach whilst thinking outside the box to engage our clients.
